I think there was a communication error... __l l__________l l__ ------------------------ ----- O ----- ------------------------ __l l__________l l__ This an attempt at a side-on view. Slots are in red, O is the screw. -And the space removal is making it screwy. I hope you get the idea, though...
Just read through your whole log, and damn! That's some serious business going on in here! Buying both a lathe and a mill, just so you could finish this project! About the pipe-holder thingy. I think they look good as they are right now, adding grooves in them might be too much. Another thing I thought about tho. DUDE! NEEDS MORE CHAMFERS!
Nice work Nexxo as always, I can only imagine what you could achieve if you had access to the machinery Mr 3D has access to
Yeah, the chamfers on the internal openings was part of the original design but added a whole set of extra complications for Skyrip's CNC. In the end I had to balance cost and production time vs result and just get the parts done. I have since found a company which will teach CNC and rent out time on one of their big machines. But that's for a future project... Else perhaps I need to have a little chat with Mr3D about whether he'll take commissions...
I think it's fine as is.you could chamfa all the other bits with your mill and a chamfa bit but the time it would take would be prohibited. Imagine owning all that equipment the company Mr 3D works for has
House? I would live in the machine shop and learn to program it all in my sleep actually I practically live in my workshop already
@Jrs77 - Not having a garage filled to the ceiling with three generations worth of tools... How do you even live? I kinda like the partial chamfer. It has that texture variety thing going for it, and shows off the clean cuts.
I aten't dead... Just, well, very, very busy at work. As such I haven't made much progress. It doesn't help that I'm building my own soldering station* and the beehives require a lot of attention right now. But I have been able to quickly redo the power and reset handles as I wasn't happy with the knurling. Knurling is a dark art, requiring quite some practice, but via a useful YouTube video by an experienced model engineer I found a easy and clever technique: It now matches the knurling on the BitsPower fittings: * The soldering station will be a digital affair, with brass and aluminium case and Edwardian styling (because Steampunk). Project log will follow.
Hand knurling is easy with a little pratice. But I can bet it won't stand up to Nexxo's high quality level.
't was only a small update... Meanwhile I'm also building a digital soldering station. Here is part of the soldering iron stand: I still have to clean up the base a bit... I've done more parts, but no pics yet. Probably will do a separate log. And then there is the passively cooled HTPC (Zoë)...
