Zap explain how I can make Winamp3 recognize my onboard sound and my Soundblaster Live 5.1 Card and output to both at the same time. Please help I like Winamp but I am not that knowledgeable about it.

How do I make it recognize my wireless keyboard Play Stop Fwd Back commands in Winamp3. Winamp 2.8 would recognize it but when I upgraded it stopped working.

And how do I set the default skin to default?

    Thanks in advance.

Zap - how hard do you think it would be to put an amp in there for use with regular speakers?

He could probably squeeze in an simple amp, althouhg for 6 channels it might get a bit cramped and the amps won't be as powerful, either using a reciever, a car amp, or a few monoblocks would probably be better.

They only output at the same time when playing a DVD.
Otherwise you can select the card you want winamp to use, from the output preferences.

(The other winamp questions are not for this thread)

As Altron said I would only use a 6-channel amp.
So there would be very little room.

^^ Just reason for a bigger case/replanning your whole project :).

The reason I ask is I have considered a music PC(maybe not a "media PC", but just something to play my MP3s) but I'm stuck with my current setup of PC-reciever-speakers, maybe someday I might try to hack up my amplifier, but I'm not to crazy about it (yet).

On the other hand, I might just get very lucky and "revive" my old dead reciever. :)

You can purchace relatively cheap car amps that run off of 12v and they work with normal speakers, just a thought ;)

While your on the topic/off topic I would like to ask a quick question. If I hook up a car amp (~1000watt max) to a PC power supply would it draw too much current to work properly? What about with a wall adapter (AC/DC inverter plug)? Thanks.

This realy should be a seprate thread, but oh well...

Yes, a PC powersupply only has so much current avalible to the 12v line, as do the wall adapters. You would more than likely need to build your own PSU in order to power such high-power devices (not impossible, just a little expencive).

    //again, sorry for offtopic :sigh:

    Please~!!! Stay on topic...
This PC has NOTHING to do with car amplifiers!

This is already over 900 posts long.
I will have some updates soon.

I will be removing the latest off-topic posts the next time I update.

    Tubes

Hey, Zap I remember seeing on your web site, in PC mod ideas about modding a computer with vacuum tubes in it. Well I found a web site with a tubed amplifier. This kit is awesome looking. Maybe it is too late for this mod but it looks like it has a lot of potential for future mods. There are four or five tubes in front with a mirror in the back to reflect the tubes light. It looks pricey too. I could not get the exact link to the page because of how the site is set up and did not see a price on it either. Great job on the LAN PC!
This web site reminds me of Heathkit.
    It is under audio/hifi applications

Are you going to be using the media PC for general computer tasks or just media?

Also what kinds of components are going to be near the media PC? recievers, cd players, etc.

It will pretty much be Media only.
It might end up with a few server tasks though.

This is a all-in-one PC, so there will really be nothing next to it.
The speakers I am using already have an amp and 5.1 decoder built in.

I am using Altec Lansing 800 Series Dolby Digital Speakers.

They have great sound quality and volume.
The sub-woofer rocks the whole house,
and the satilite speakers can either sit on top of the mains,
or placed on pods behind the listener.

I was reading computer shopper when I came across the “ONEBOX”. Its almost like the media center your building.
