God damn! I just saw this thread for the first time - and I must say that I will try to avoid Gainward like the plague from now on. I build/service alot of systems and having to deal with a 3 month RMA just doesn't fit into my business model. Luckily none of the gainward cards I've installed has failed yet. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Ok my replacement finally turned up - its a Ultra/1100 FX 5900 128mb.

The question now is do I replace my Radeon 9700 Pro with this card... :eyebrow: as I'm not too sure which is the more powerful.

Congratz scooby. How about sell them both and get a 9800 XT :naughty: in a little while.

yeah the XT looks nice, the 9600 XT is supposed to be the first card to outperform the 9700pro, using a different core than it, right across the board :cooldude:

Glad to hear the card arrived, again my apologies about this, the matter has now been dealt with and will not happen again. I hope you are happy with the upgrade!!!

That is why you don't save money with less known companys. It is always better to buy name brands ATI Nvida (Nvida now sucks ass but I doubt you would have much of a problem with a return)

Im sorry but do you mean that gainward is not a known brand?

IMO its name is synonymous with power users and o/cers and has a very good reputation. Not sure i would buy one though after all the troubles with this card and im sure countless others that had the same problems.

Also FYI ATI and nVidia make chipsets, not cards for the end user. And this card was an nVidia GF4 Ti4200.

How nice of you to express your opinion so blatently, great first post bty

I have had to RMA my PNY GeForce 4600Ti due to the core burning itself out, and it was (thankfuly) a short process.

Glad to hear that it is all sorted now, what are you going to do with the extra card?

Well when I get the chance I plan to get another hd, and benchmark it in my rig to see if its quicker than my Radeon 9700, then decide which one to keep...

    Watch this space ;)

Don't use Royal Mail signed for international because all it will tell you is 'it has been passed to an overseas postal service for delivery', which isn't a lot of use really.
