sco0by, any update on this? Have been following this thread with interest, and more than a little mirth, although for you, I'm sure, it is no joke....
This is true (lucky.....**** ) but hows it gonna lok running a 16 meg gforce 2 ? I'm nosey. My opinion of gainward has really gone down. I don't think I would knowingly buy a Gainward product now, not because they produce poor equipment, but because their customer service seems so appauling. I mean, he must have paid lots for the card at the time, and what does he have to show for it right now? A big fat Zero.
Actually I had an MX400 for a week, then snapped, and bought a Radeon 9700 Pro off ebay Its not so much that im missing a gfx card - more the way in which it was dealt with. My dealings with Sony and the 21" monitor were such a contrast. They had it turned around in 7 working days, and phoned me to let me know what was going on. The card when I got it was meant to be the best of the best, so you would not expect it to die after 18 months or so. (Bear in mind the first card I had died within a week of getting it ) Plus it was totally stock - no extra cooling, no tweaks, just run as normal. As long as the replacement isnt something like a FX 5200 which is slower than my old Ti4600 I wont mind
I think I have a replacement on the way to me. I got an email from Andy at gainward to say they have sent me an Ultra/1100 5900. I think that means its this one which may be the successor to my old Ti4600. (I dont know - its so hard to tell with gainward model names )
Good grief that took them long enough. Well the Ti4600 would have been slap bang at the top of the Gainward range. I believe the 5900 (normal) would have been the equivalent to the Ti4400 not the Ti4600. Really they should have sent you the Ultra/1600, which is based on the 5900 Ultra. Either way it will suck at Half Life 2.
I don't wanna jinx you sco0by, but lets see if it arrives. If it tales as long to arrive as it did to get sent, you'll be here 'til Ch*****as. Edit: Why doesn't it like me saying c-h-r-i-s-t-m-a-s?
i tried rma'ing a card once, heard from andy a couple of times, then nothing..no reply. Cards just sitting on my desk now ;/ Ne chance of an RMA andy? edit : its one of the ones with the capicitors of doom
The record is mine! hehe Besides its all hypothetical until I actually have the replacement (whatever it may be) in my hands. Then I have to decide whether to install it, or to leave the Radeon 9700 Pro in the pc instead... Judging by what I read about Nvidia cards and Half-Life 2 performance, the Radeon is staying put.
Andy - are you getting my emails? Every time I try to reply to your email, I get a "Undeliverable" return message?
Yes and I replied to it twice - getting the same error twice? I haven't recieved the card yet - was it sent to a business or home address?
