Other What's ruining your life right now?

So yesterday I did my fastest painting yet. Today I am paying for it lol. My feet and calf muscles are killing me and my back isn't best pleased either. I will need a day to recover ffs.

 

Utter ball ache, I cant actually complete the mandatory training for this either, again due to my brilliant manager.

 

*$%£hole jobsworth bin men.

Up until about 6 months ago our bin men were awesome, friendly, helpful, just nice guys doing a good job and everyone was happy. Now? Not so much.

They won't take the bins if the lid is not FULLY closed, 5mm open? Nope, overfilled, not taking it. Extra bags? Nope, not our service, call the specialist waste removal team, we only do bins.

I just managed to get the bin to the curb as they arrived this morning, no problem there, got it there in time. The guy comes over, lifts the lid, shuts it and walks off to the truck. He then comes back with a problem sticker, slaps it on the bin and walks off. Doesn't say a word. I AM STANDING RIGHT THERE. Apparently (from what I can tell, as it appears that this $£%t doesn't have a tongue in his head, the problem is that some of the rubbish is in a bag and that's not allowed for recycling stuff. If he had said something, I could have fixed that in 2 seconds, he could have taken the bin and everything would be shiny.

But no, this t%£$ decided to take the extra time to walk down the rod to the truck, fetch a sticker, walk back, slap it on the bin and then walk all the way back instead of just opening his gob and talking to me. What made it worse is as he walks back to the truck, he's there looking over his shoulder at me to see what I am doing. Then he's up and looking over the hedges as I walk off down the road to get the bus.

The problem is that there's not really a lot that I can do about it either. I make a complaint and they work out who it was (not difficult as the complaint would have to be specific) and my bin never gets emptied again, every single time some reason will be found to not take it. I know what these types of $£%"holes are like, I've worked with enough of them. Vindictive $£%"s, all of them.

 

Each time they do not collect, organise a re-collection with your local council. They will soon get fed-up of you calling each week.

 

Had similar, council changed the colour of the bin bags, failed to mention that if you used the old colour ones they wouldn't be collected, they went from transparent pink to clear for recycling.
Pretty much no one used the new ones as we all had half used rolls of pink ones.

Many bins were left and massively wasteful, council soon changed their tune after what must have been a tidal wave of complaints.

Also re the wheelie bins, there a gardener who rocks up every few weeks an unloads about a dozen wheelie bins of green waste, now we only have sixteen houses in the street but the bin men don't seem to notice that theres a great pile of full wheelie bins all together nearly double what the street should have.

 

Our hew home only has upto 8Mb broadband available.

There is fibre to the cabinet but all slots are taken - just waiting for what feels like forever to find out if the current tenants have fibre, which would mean we could take over theirs. If not, we're back in the dark ages.

Sanding, cleaning and painting radiators. Not the PC variety. I think I would rather set fire to my pubes tbh. I really can't think of anything I hate more. There is one bright side to it, though. At least the paint these days is water based and dries fast. Last time I painted it was oil based and horrible and stinky.

 

Some very concerning noises coming from my HDD... again...

 

Pure luxury, I have a 2Mb line with no fibre capacity.

 

...I live in a property with no BT line... so while i have VM's 200Mb it's very much 'VM or no internet'...

 

Lol i feel like i’m slowly dying, I’ve had my chest pain forever, i’ve also had a lower back ache forever which seems to be slowly progressing moving up my spine, my shoulder is in agony… my armpits are constantly aching, seems foolish explaining all these to the GP without feeling like a knob after strong painkillers, funny thing is though if these pain and aches keep progressing that’s exactly what i’ll be asking for straight up. I also have my chest scan soon tho!

 

Either an angry bumble bee has founds its way inside my pc or something is seriously not right...

 

My Tosh HDD has been making a very loud (and very annoying) clunk the past few days. I mean a proper, slam the read/wire head home clunk rather than a dying "click". I've cloned it onto a known good WD drive just incase it went belly up but the days of "cheap" 1TB SSDs can't come soon enough. I'd replace the drive in my SkyHD box with one too.

 

If i wasn't perpetually skint it wouldn't be a problem... but it's lead to bodge after bodge... [that and this dicrepit spinner is one of the oldest components now...]

 

Implementation deadlines which cannot move because reasons, regardless of how ready the project might/might not be.

 

It's the same where I work - the shipping date (which is set before we even get a design spec) rules all.
