If this is true then it is utterly ridiculous, particularly in light of his financial shenanigans... Still, it depends on your concept of morality. In the US it seems to be the 'christian' bible belt who are happy with money laundering, corruption but not with sexual conduct outside of their biblical model. A country that seems to be as religiously fundamental as their muslim equivalent, Saudi Arabia.

I'd bet money that financial shenanigans are why they're dropping the hammer so hard here. The insider trading allegations are being fought over, but they can boot him NOW with this.

That said, there's also the current trend of sexual harassment accusations popping up a decade later and getting widespread publicity, some of which looked a lot like this(in that consent was given, but there was a significant power disparity). It has encouraged some very aggressive handling of this sort of issue.

Guys, this was just an excuse. He was fired because of all the shares he sold AFTER Google notified Intel about the Spectre vulns (and before Intel notified the public).

Pretty much the definition of insider trading.

EDIT: Also, to add, this could also be attributed to the fact that under his leadership, Intel has not seen anything come from the 10nm process. They are still fabricating at 14nm, and their 10nm is pretty much dead at this point.

All the while, AMD will have 7nm rolling out by end of 2018.

Intel just went from a 2 node advantage to being passed by AMD / GF.

I don't get the claim that it was an excuse to get rid of him for insider trading, is he even being investigated for that? even if he is would sacking him save Intel, or him, from any of the fallout if found guilty?

Also it's hard enough comparing sizes when it's the same foundry let alone different companies, node sizes mostly became meaningless marketing BS a decade ago when they all switched to FinFET, if you had to draw comparisons though GloFlo's 7nm is actually slightly bigger than Intel's 10nm (iirc the key dimensions are a few nm larger).
