I got paid, have felt dog **** rough all day but nice to see money in my account. Things and stuff have pushed debt freedom free back a few months. still very much a goal for this year. Trying not to be too hard on myself, got a weeks holiday in a fortnight so looking forward to a break with the family I do really need it.

A slow plod towards debt freedom

Operation "Pay Off The Unsecured Lending F'ing ASAP" resumed today in earnest. Completely paid off Small-ish Credit Card this morning, and Big Credit Card had its balance lowered by a fair whack.

It’s very rewarding and an amazing feeling once you’re free and clear. Expect to get your credit amount lifted as they try and draw you back into debt though, plenty of marketing emails and junk mail trying to entice you.

I now only have a single credit card for dire emergencies.

    Keep it up

We're already well into this, we already knocked out a handful of other credit accounts over the last couple of years - we just put things on hold for a little bit when we started talking about moving again late last year. It's why we've got so much every month that we can pile into it now: all the payments for the accounts we've already cleared, and any annual pay increase, just get added to the payments for the next account.

I mean, it also helps that I've had significant pay increases in the last ~5 years...

80€ T500RS base works fine so far.

14€ adapter and bolted the RS steering wheel to it for further testing, and deciding whether I need or want one of the wheels with fancy buttons on it.

First time messing about with virtual machines. Got XP running with 3D acceleration using Oracle Virtualbox. Currently running a 3DMark05 run with the RX6800 in my desktop being reported as a Radeon 9500... :hehe:

Going to try some games next. Longest wait will be for the installer via the optical drive - seemingly have to kill the VM to load the game into the drive otherwise it just spits it straight out again.

    A bit of graffiti.
    To put it into context how out of character this is for me, I bloody hate graffiti and I'd not shed a single tear if banksy was put against the wall, but this, this gives me a warm fuzzy feeling;

    Swapped out my router earlier.

Yeah. Um.... That made a difference! It's a bump of about ~200mbps over previous results, that's basically is some people's entire internet connection.

It also means that I can take the limits off my download speeds - Steam can now do this and the router no longer craps its pants.

As I mentioned elsewhere, some may consider this server to be a little overkill for a home router...

But. It gives me a lot of options for doing more complex monitoring and security, plus a 4-port NIC means I can physically isolate networks and be confident that the router can handle the load.

If it's any consolation, it's not going to be cheap to have it on all the time!

Pretty much everything we do uses the internet these days! We don't have any kind of TV subscription/box and we don't even have an aerial plugged in for the free-to-air stuff - everything is via the intertube. We do consume quite a lot of bandwidth, it's not unusual for two 4K streams to be going at the same time.
