Windows Anyone using AVG having trouble updating?

    There is an ftp address available aswell, so you could change the above text to look like this:

    [SERVER_NAME]
    1=free.grisoft.cz
    2=ftp.grisoft.com
    3=www.grisoft.com

    [SERVER_URL]
    1=http://free.grisoft.cz/softw/60/fe
    2=ftp.grisoft.com/pub/softw/60/fe/
    3=http://www.grisoft.com/softw/60/fe/
    Actual URL=3

    but using AVG free i can only use free.grisoft.cz right???

    I have had those probelsm as well. I found a way around it by using the manual update. Just go to their site. For AVG free goto, Download ->updates.
    Then, on the left, click on updates AVG 6.
    Then, in the list, select AVG Antivirus free edition. Then click on select.
    Then download the correct file on that page. Read the instructions to see which file you need.

    That's a problem for people like me who, unfortunately enough, can't manage to download a file in a web browser from them :( :sigh:

    Yes. I work at an ISP and that's what we recommend. It doesn't screw up your computer as much and detects virii much better.

    moorecomp - thank you very much -- I've been having some problems.

    Nope. I'm using AVG free version and this fix has worked for me. Thanks again moorecomp! :rock:

    - But how do you set which server you what to use, mine just a has a dropdown, which only has free.grisoft.cz in it, how do you ADD a server location??

    If you read the thread you have to change the ini file - Moorecomp tells you how to do it. I managed it and Im a complete technotard :duh:

    I must say tahnk you to moorecomp for posting that fix for AVG. On some machines, doing it the way I posted did not work. Today, at work I tried his way on a machine, and it worked like a charm.

    Id had these probs recently and found that upgrading to the latest version worked ok for me (plus i hadnt noticed this thread yet, oops :)).

    I just installed a new copy of AVG free, they movced the "built in" update time 25 mins earlier to avoid traffic bottlenecks.
