the blackmesa one was really cool but in my opinion you kinda over did it... i mean it looked really good but then you just kept adding stuff and it was kinda overkill imo... since it just started looking, well how can i put it... trashy... but it was great none-the-less... looking forward to see this masterpiece done... maybe use less yellow rust this time? well it's you decision ofcourse... and i trust you will make a case to be remembered...
Awesome job pilloux I knew it would happen. Just a questions can you name some of the major differences in the project compared to blackmessa _rahoul: most likely one dvd at most 1 DVD = aprox. 5 CD's
Thanks all for congrats I m waiting to see it you are right , I didn't found other motherboard which fit well with the colour and theme I would like to give to it it will be different but in the same spirit yes, Ithat is the bigger pic of it that I found... I just edit the post this one will be running only one game , this is enough for a demo pc it is difficult because generally I get ideas during the building of the project , then you ll have to wait for updates
i sure as hell hope not! i hate juggling all those damn cd's when installing games, UT2004 was on DVD ROM thank god. i mean by now everyone has a DVD ROM, they cost all of AUD$50 OEM. oh and r3men4nt, i was being sarcastic. next time i'll put <sarcasm></sarcasm> tags
My first subscribed thread on these forums. I have to say, browsing all the projects I never quite understood the "awesome! subscribed!" posts... until this one, and realizing that I don't want to miss a MOMENT of this case's creation. ^^;; Awesome job, Piloux, best of luck!!
A suggestion Sir! I thought that I would share a design philosophy that I generally follow on my creations. Basically place your design in the context of a story and how that story and its environment affects the pc. This would direct the flow of your mod. So instead of rusting everything, rust only those parts that have come in contact with water. Battle damage would limited and some parts would be untouched, just dirty or dusty. Well its how I do things most of the time. Hell, what am I doing giving you suggestions?
Im sure they will make dual versions like ut2k4...Eventually it will all be dvds or mini dvds I would imagine...
Cool This is awesome. I'm really excited that Valve recognized you for your hard work. One question: Won't you be on a major time frame? I mean, most news sources say HL2 is right around the corner.... Anyways, good luck!
Acually your wrong, I an interview with a game developer, he claimed that not enough people have DVD-ROM drives for most companies to make the switch. Ludacrous, I know.
really? im amazed, even the cruddiest Dell's come with combo drives dont they? I would've though that any computer built in the last 2-3 years would have a DVD rom at least. hmmph, guess i was wrong. its kinda stupid really, anyone looking at buying HL2 or any new-ish game would have a fairly beefy pc, which would almost certainly contain a DVD rom. Anyone who has a PC old enough to not have come with a DVD rom most likely wouldnt be able to play HL2 anyway. oh and sorry Piloux for going off topic
Ya well if they dont realease it as both DVD and CD's they'll be making IMO a big mistake ppl (like me) dont want to mess round with up to 5 cd's. Blast: I dont think he meant completly switch the formats jsut off it in both.
Hi piloux I have a question, how will Valve deal in the costs of this new casemod adventure? Will they pay you in advance for the hardware? Or will they send it to you? Do you get any money or other awards for this demopc? I can guess there will be alot of time spending on it and money... So pls explain those questions GRtz from Belgium TCF supports you!
