the Papst range of fans is a pretty safe bet between noise and performance.

papst 120mm fans are excellent performers, silenX 120mm fans much better (on paper) but ive not tried them out, so i woudnt be able to back them up

i have 3 120mm papst fans in mycase though and they are very quiet at 12v and inaudible at around 8v and lower

the specifications of silenx on paper look amazing but it could just be an entirely different way of measuring the noise level, and the only way to really compare them would be to use both of the side by side

I remember reading on a fan site that 14 dbA is quieter than they could measure....seemed a bit ridiculous but the fan has to make some sound, you cannot stop the sound of air moving, haha.

Oh, alright then. For all your silent 120mm fan cooling needs: go for a Panaflo FBA-12G12L:

    Air Flow: 68.9 CFM
    Fan Speed: 1700 RPM
    Noise Level: 30 dBA
    Power: 2.6 watt
    Bearing Type: Hydro Wave Bearing
    Fan Size: 120x120x38mm

Else, NMB makes some nice quiet fans, but they're harder to obtain.

Also, visit Silent PC for more info on quiet fans. :thumb:
