Dont want to pay shedloads for a simple cable I know one of you lot can make

Anyone have a diagram of the wireing that even a n00b like me can understand?

I want to run my Gamecube on my monitor, so I need a scart to attach to my monitor,

Diagrams if you please, or somewhere to pick up a cable for cheap

LEt me get my head around this,
If I follow that diagram, I shoul dbe up and working?

When it shows two pins on one plug going into one cable, then into two pins on the other plug, this may sound stupid, how would I go about that?, just solder the two pins to one wire, then the same at other end?

If you want the direct route you can buy a scart to VGA lead from Halfords for £80 but never heard of anyone doing this, plus it must be a suitable TFT monitor.
Best way is to use a scart to s-vhs adaptor ,Halfords order code L50AJ and get cables to connect it to your graphics and sound.Your card must have tv/video out/in socket.

Just saw your posting infernis and that would be the cheapest way especially if you have spare cables lying around.Been that used to s-video i never thought of that.

So using this method, I should in theory be able to run my gamecube through my monitor, using scart... with no problems?

if it outputs in RGB, with timing that the VDU can cope with yes.

I think a good CRT would have no problems with PAL-M timings. note the word think. I never really paid attention when we were looking at TV it bores me, but i can say, if your console dosen't output in RGB, it won't work.

Well I'll be going from RGB cables into a scart adapter which I would normally use with the portable tele, But then from the scart staight to vga by making a cable,

So hopefully I will see a result, Ill get onto this in the morning when I have the bits at hand and a working soldering iron, as mine just dosent like heating up

CRT's wont work at TV resolutions, at least none of the ones i have do :) If its a 'Multisync' then it should work, check it runs at TV freqs (15kHz horiz IIRC). Otherwise you could get one of those TV>VGA convertor box things.

SVid to VGA might be tricky, I think Scart to VGA would be hella easy in comparison tbh.
