Where E means E-Mule/Emergency... I did this project just before the Darkwater to replace my old download system and to serves as file server and others. Also, was a test for the DarkWater project. It isn`t still finnished and i`m planning some stuff more. The system is based on a Epia M10000 and a Shuttle box. Is perfectly capable of playing DVD, divx, run Quake3 if needed and, of course, download stuff 24/7. I get the empty shuttle case from a local store, where was used as demo. The log: Some stuff. The Epia M10000 200W PSU As usual, the first job is remove the front and other useless parts. Under the bezel... Some cuts needed Clean chasis Cutting the rear IO plate from shuttle to allow the bigger one from Epia To acomodate the Epia board and its IO plate, a needed to cut a PCI slot cover of the two in the case. The outer PCI slot remains useful and match with the ona in the board. Adapted plate Fixings for the board
First assembly test Ram is too close of the PSU... But too close doesn`t mean touching Back to the front work. Marks for the LCD Cuts. And cuts in the chasis to left space for the LCD board. Before... ...After Replacin the original plexy bezel with a dark tinted piece. And the silver coloured sheet with a new one in black. More to come!
I'm getting to where I am kinda fond of these Shuttle mods, and this one is no exception. Nice start!! Mafia
Today update. Painte plate from Sony DVD rom. Then i decided to switch for a DVDRW from LG that recived the same cosmetic job. testing the front. The LCD dead in a shortcircuit. So... ...I need a new one... With a new fitting test. The LCD don`t brigth too much, but its ok for me, because this time i don` want to put any on/off switch for the light or dim. The exhaust port. As i cutted the grill in the back, i need some stylish finger guard... Cutted grill. Old stripped fan. Only the frame was needed. Sanded, painted and instaled frame as exhaust port. Also, as you can see later, it serves as cable manager. Stay tunned!
Thx Little update more. Testing the port as exhaust and cable manager. The fan is an Antec Red led. Not too much noisy. Some mesh in the open printer hole to pass througt the LCD cable
the fascade looks great in the dark, what about adding some lighting around the edges or in the feet?
An update more... and, of course, lighst for Phaeton. With a pair of theese old crippled TT fan controlers i`m gona create a "slot-bus" Modded PCI slot cover. The other part of the "thing". Assembled on position. Outter look. Top=High Mid=Low Bott=Low Sleeving, wire managing and testing: As you can see, in the botton there is a Red glow wire to enhance the overal look of the case. No light, no flash... More to come.
I get those in a Electronic parts shop. They aren`t momentary, to power ON, turn the key to ON position and return to initial position (before 4 secs XD).
The last update of the part one. I have to decide how to continue or if continue it. Overall it must remain as a simple and quick mod... The pics: The handle mounting. Testing at home... ...And testing at LAN Real LAN proof I did theese first jobs in one intense week but i can`t measure in real hours of work. It isn`t a very "eye-candy" mod, but is usefull and quick to made. And overall is silent and the red light (and soft LCD backlight) don`t disturb me at night, so it can be "e-muling" 24/7 without problems. More pics on te second part... if so. THX for the comments.
Do you flirt with your sff? "Hi, i`m XCXZ and have a Shuttle! Have seen my case? has a great heatpipe waiting for your heat..."
