Actually the problem is with the 16mb cache Maxtor drives, if you talk to them about it they will send you update firmware for it letting it work with the NF4.
You can just sand and polish the grill down to the point of reflectiveness (Metku.net reviewed a polishing kit a while ago that let him do just that), or see if you can find chrome paint. The polishing is likely to be more effective, though.
While I don't know this personally I understand that the jails have stainless steel mirrors in them that are polished to a mirror shine. SO I think that would look nice
The only thing about that is it's a) hard to do, b) very time consuming, and c) VERY hard to do to a near-chrome effect
Bummer... How about black chrome for the truly unique look BTW, I am working on getting that sale set up
hey... on those bracket thingies... you put the fan like, between the bracket and the radiator? like.. i noticed on one side, it has a gap between the radiator and the brackets, and some holes on those little tab type things that would seem to fit where the mounting holes on a fan are..
It appears to be getting more towards the TwinPlex Pro: http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1027750091&postcount=2131
That would make sense, but a support pillar of a 120mm fan does not clear the bracket. I know little more about these things than you (no instructions). If you where to mod the fan, it could be mounted the way you said. Perhaps other brands of 120mm fans are different (that is a ADDA) not sure..
So presumably you just use normal fan screws (the self-tapping things) and attach the fan to the docking module, then slide that over the rad and screw it on?
That would be my call. An acrylic shroud could be fabricated to fil the gap. I received my new Maxtor MaXLine III HD yesterday. Just as I thought, no legacy (Molex) power connector that the IBM (Hitachi) DeskStar includes (pictured left). This is going to be a small problem with the Aqua-Computer APE 120 grill I am using as my HD back-plate. I have an extra, so not the end of the world. Also not the first time I altered something in this project... More soon, but honestly I am not sure how much time I will have this weekend (real-world stuff)..
Heh yeah I'm camping all this weekend, but let me know how you like the drive. Being more or less out of HD space is a huge pain (I'm like 85% used, but the way it's distributed over five drives, none of them have a particularly useful amount of space left)
im about 90% full of 300gb over 3 drives (1x 200gb, 1x 80gb 1x 20gb) so i need to order my new rig sometime soon :S but i need money!!! i love the looks of your rig modsquad its really clean and shiny
Keep us posted on the Maxtor. I've heard good things about that drive. I'm interested in your impressions. How did you solve the bolt problem with your window?
Hrmm, those are sort of available from Norway. I wanted one, but I didn't want to know what the shipping would have been I wouldn't mind a PC62, it's the same as the 60, but it's designed for extended/server boards. Specifically designed for water cooling? Where's the fun in making the cooling fit then
Nope niet nada no way jose! It's a prototype case and it doesn't even have a name yet. I doubt Lian-Li would even acknowledge anything about it. There has been only one (1) ever made on this planet because it is a prototype.
