180 degree Gaming

    This was just a random thought after reading liquid k9s thread about buying a projector.
    IIRC you can make your own projector out of a lcd monitor, halogon bulb, lens and cardboard box? What are the quality of these like?
    Would it be possible to get a lens to project the screen warped out to 180 degrees (or close to it), and project onto a semi-circle screen (ie, so the picture surrounds you). Then use a FOV of 180 is games so that it doesnt look warped?

    I think it'd be pretty damn hard to build a projector that was good enough for gaming...

    Mind you, having said that- go for it mate, and take lots of nice pics for us :)

    mmm pixels 1 mm tall and 10 mm wide after stretching. :D

    But if you get a high enough resolution it should help out a lot.
