www.1up.com has given Bioshock the coveted perfect score. From the demo alone I knew that this game was going to be absolutely mind-blowing, and I've only barely scratched the surface. Can't wait to play the full game.

Am playing it now. Wait for the full conclusion, but this looks to be game of the decade material. A few bit of confusion with the 360 controls, but thats all.

    Eurogamer also gave it 10/10

I'm interested to see how the PC controls work with the plasmid and weapon switching.

Only a ten from EDGE will make me go 'Wow, this game got a perfect score'. The internet gives out tens all the time yo.

Yeah I wouldn't trust 1UP with scores. Very inconsistent imho. Then again I think EDGE's scores have become fairly untrustworthy of late aswell.

1UP Review is fundamentally flawed and laced with spoilers IMO.

I don't. I have very high standards. Many games get a 9 maybe, but not even Monkey Island or Beyond Good and Evil would get a ten from me. I can only think of four games that would.

    No....

Problem Exists Between Controller and Chair.

Note: Joe is playing the 360 version.

Examples? Not that I disagree or anything, just wondering!

It would be interesting to see if this gets a 10 from EDGE though. After playing the demo a bit, I could see myself falling in love with it... But a 10 from EDGE might be asking a bit too much.

Either way, these arbitary scores are getting increasingly meaningless in this day of downloadable demos and speedy first-hand information. The game is obviously of the highest quality.

we know famitsu won't give it a 10. I think Zelda: OOT was the first game to get 9.8

Not another Bioshock thread, I cant keep up. lol

Anyway if you have been listening to the 1up podcasts, then you'll know that Garnet Lee wont shut up talking about how great it is. Im starting to wonder if 2K games are paying his salary or something.

Well I got my tin editiond on preorder from HMV and cant wait :p

Then again, Halo 2 also had incredibly good ratings...

I think Joe being glued to a controller is a much better way of determining if a game is good.

the max score for famitsu is 40 - 4 guys each score it out of ten and they sum it.

they have handed out a perfect score for a handful of games, nintendogs and ffXII being two google threw up.

Hell will have frozen over by the time Famitsu gives a perfect score to a Western game.

Only six games have perfect scores from Famitsu, getting 10/10 from all four reviewers:

    Zelda: OOT
    Soul Calibur
    Vagrant Story (!)
    Zelda: WW
    Nintendogs (!!)
    and FFXII

Just read the PCzone review (magazine version) of bioshock, the only negative point they could think of is that "at one point it ends". They did however mention that there was no punishment for deaths as you body is revived at a "vita-chamber" with all you gear intact and the enemies still hurt from you encounter. Shame they couldn't include a demo on their DVD though.
