I need to put together a RAID of little 2.5" hard disks for a portable application. I'd like to achieve 200MB/sec.

Are there any mechanical disks that will do 50MB/sec each, or will I have to go to flash? WD have a 320GB 5200RPM model which reviews well, but I'd be interested in any other thoughts. Has anyone made a 7200RPM 2.5" disk?

Is there any particular reason why you couldn't just get a single SSD? Is the low capacity a problem?

Yes, and they won't generally do 200MB/sec sustained.

Though they should and I'm not really sure why they won't.

Edit - Oh and yes there are, I discover, plenty of 7200RPM laptop disks. Maybe this is easier than I thought, but it's tough to get any real world performance figures. Anyone have any experience?
