Hell of a good option if you want to build a PS4/Xbox One beating gaming PC on the cheap:

    Bit Fenix Neos Case £30
    MSI 970 £70
    FX 6300 £70
    Crucial M100 256GB £80
    500GB 7200rpm £40
    AMD 2GB Radeon 270 £120
    8GB Ram £60
    450w PSU £50

..for about £500 that's good enough to play anything out there at 1080p on medium/high settings.

    Bargain.

    Plus £70 for the OS (£50 if you're a student), don't forget.

If you can get by with so little storage why bother with a mechanical hdd at all?

The 512GB Crucial MX100 has dropped to just below £150.

just find it hard pressed to use AMD high end CPUs that are barely faster then a C2D and use 2-4 times power then a C2D

the only benefit you got with AM3 is DDR ECC support on the cheap (ASUS mobos only, other mobo makers seem to hide the ECC enable option) but i can Buy Old HP workstations with Nvidia Quadro card fitted for under £200 (the standard config is normally ECC)
