well my sister brought me some saweet stuff cause they are moving....some of the stuff that this included was a sond blaster live 5.1 surround sound card....just a basic one....nothing special. Also a 5.1 cambridge surround sound speaker set. to be exact...it is the Desktop Theatre DTT-2200. I installed the card and XP did a good job of installing it and all that. I first just tried to get all the speakers to work. At first none of the speakers worked...but i disabled the on board speaker driver and they work now....well all of them work except the center speaker. So i thought i would just update the drivers and maybe that would make it work. Well i updated the drivers and then none of the speakers worked. Like if you cranked it up you could barely hear it in the background and it was REALLY fuzzy like a cable was half connected or something....so i checked allt he cable connections..all good... checked everything basicly...and it should have been working don't know why it wouldn't though. So does anybody have ideas why it wouldn't work with the new drivers?

My next question is why won't the center speaker work with the built in drivers?

Last question is what is a good way of testing the surround sound? Any good sougs that test that really well?

    Thank you!

    Well, a few things:

First off, make sure that all of your speakers are connected to the correct terminals.

Make sure that the Digital Audio Out is disabled, and it's going through the Analog ports.

Make sure that everything is set up correctly in the Creative dashboard program, there are a lot of things to look at here.

Finally, check the Windows Volume Control panel, make sure everything except your Mic In is unmuted and turned all the way up.

I don't know if the software with the Live! cards is the same as the ones with the Audigy 2's, but if it is:

~Right click on the taskbar's icon section (can't remember the name atm) on the "Creative Volume Control" icon

    ~Click "Speaker Settings"

~Look near the bottom left hand corner of that screen, for the checkbox that says "Digital Output Only" and uncheck it

That should do it, but that's assuming it's the same software. Oh, and make sure the "Synchronize with Control Panel" box on that same screen is ticked.

    Oh, and no problem :thumb:
