Hi all, I've just built my machine got it all configured and I'm going through tuning it up. I am a bit of a newb when it comes to overlocking but I've educated myself as best I can but I seem to be hitting a brick wall. My build is as follows: AMD 5950X Asus Strix X570-I MiniITX board 16GB Crucial Balistix BLE2K8G4D36BEEAK 3600 MHz 16-18-18 Corsair TX850M 850W PSU Arctic Freezer II 280mm AIO I ran Prime95 on a 32 core blanaced stress test and I can see in Ryzen master that the EDC get pinned to 100% on the default out of the box settings I was hitting 4.5ish GHz then I set it to Precision boost overdrive which upped the limit of EDC which again it took to 100% of the new value and I was still hitting the same 4.5GHz??? Have I missed something?
I should also mention I am on the latest BIOS, the board wouldn't boot with my CPU until I updated it which was a massive hassle!
All core vs single or few core clocks. 4.5GHz will probably its all core target for your power and temperature. If yourun prime95 on one or a few cores you'll see it boost higher. Welcome to modern CPU's, where clocks are just targets that dynamically try to get reached!
I tried one thread in Prime95 and the CPU split it across 2/3 cores so I couldn't pin one core. I'm sure there is a better way to test this. The power budget wasn't maxed out and the temperature was well under control so I'm not sure that upping them would make any difference.
