I work collegue has asked me to choose a new gfx card for him.

He like those games where you controll loads of warriors and stuff like that. He's got a reasonably fast PC and will soon have 1GB of RAM. He's also got a budget 17" TFT.

I'm stuck between recommending the 6800/6800LE with 128MB or a 6600GT with 256MB. I'm swaying towards the 6800 but thought I'd se what you guys thought.

Which will give him the most bang for his buck?

    Thanks.

Same choice I had... go with a 6800... 256bit bus and extra pipes... faster card overall...

6800, purely on the fact it might unlock.

yea the 6800 is a better card. Even if he wants a 6600GT don't bother with the 256mb version. It won't perform any better than the 128mb version and is a complete waste of money.

I recently got an Asus V9999 6800 vanilla, unlocked to 16x1 and 6vs from the standard 12x1 and 5vs. Also clocks to 355 core, 890 ram.
