?

Should Bit-Tech start including 7 Zip as one of its standard benchmarking tools?

    oops! :jawdrop: :duh:

It happens mate but i feel your pain , would be interesting to see the change between 32 & 64 versions on the i7 though since the x64 should take better advantage of all that bandwidth for memory on offer!

lol winrar Cheesecake :) It's the best zip program I ever used, I'm using it for ages now. So winrar only will be more than good for me and most people.

    good luck

Yeah CK im not disputing Winrar is a good program , it IS i have it installed as well as 7zip , but just check out some of the benchmarks posted up (the 2 i7 articles) to show you how good it is for benchmarking because of the performance differences it REALLY shows you etc

i mean benchmarking is all about showing the tiniest increases that whatever little tweak you do, and Winrar benchmarks don't really do that as well as 7zip i mean a perfect example is in the i7 articles the 965 shows exactly the same for 3 different configs (68 seconds) while the 7zip benches show the differences it really makes (18322.0, 17967.0, 17911.0)

so you see where im coming from?

any chance of you testing out the x64 build bindi if you happen to have the i7 laying around? ;) should take less than 5 minutes and show if theres much/any difference between the x64 vs x32 builds worth a dam or not
