Some people might remember my DoubleQtek mod, which you can find here.

The thing is.... It's ugly :p

Now here is an idea for the new design of this beasty:

    Project RGB

The case will be either completely white or completely white and will be full of RGB LEDs, controlled by a couple of microchips. The lighting will be built of a couple of zones:

    - Window (leds in the acryllic of the window panel, most likely engraved acryllic)
    - Fan1
    - Fan2
    - Fan3 (all three in the frontpanel, 8cm fans)
    - Logo (right side of the case, third illustration below)
    - PSU (three RGB leds in 12cm ledfan in PSU)
    - Inside (White, not RGB, strobe effect possibly)

The RGB logo will be cut out of the metal, acryllic will fit behind this, and the cutout pieces of metal will be fitted behind this acryllic, LEDs will be embedded in the side of the acryllic

Any further ideas / opinions / whatever?

Dude, do it all white. I love that look. I just got my next project case, and I was going to do it all white, to compliment my black case, but my wife wants it pink. Look for that one on here later. :p

But let me live vicariously through you and your white case. :D Seriously, though, I like the overall design. It's going to be a monster. You still gonna do the PSO screen?

I think I will, but I'm not sure. I'll have to choose between some display configurations. Either a PSOne screen, or a 128x64 (black on green) graphic LCD with touchscreen or both (the graphic LCD for the microchip control system, controlling fanspeeds, LED colors, monitoring and more)

Right on. I like the sound of doing both, but you're not only doubling your workload, but also probably the total cost. Unless you just really want an 800 x 600 monitor on the case to say you have it, the PSO screen seems kind of redundant with that little LCD doing all the controlling. I haven't done anything like that yet because I don't keep my PC on my desktop. I dunno...I guess just weigh the cost of doing it with the practicality is my advice. :)

well, i do already own both... so cost shouldn't be a problem... the workload... yes, that'll be doubled... Both screens still need some modification, the PSOne needs a 7,5V power supply, and the Graphic LCD needs a chip connected, and the chip should be connected to some sort of port on my computer... Serial, parallel, USB maybe...

maybe some time soon I'll be posting some RGB led + microcontroller stuff in the Electronics forum :)

does anyone feel the need of adding anything to the concept of this case? some crazy idea?
