I juss built a system and it has a few problems. when i turn it on the fans spin the drive lights come on (and stay on for that matter) the CPU even warms up, but i get no video i get the standard monitor test screen.
    System specs:
    Elite group ECS N2U400A mobo
    AMD xp 2600
    Generic 128 MB RAM
    mitsumi 3.5"
    LG electronics CD-RW
cant remember who makes the HDD
    Gainward GeForce4 FX5200

is the monitor plugged in? mine only shows a test screen if its unplugged

failing that it could be any number of things,
    the cable to the monitor
    the gfx card
    the memory
    the processor(heaven forbid!!)
    the mobo

my advice is double check absolutely everything then if it still isn't working and you have spare parts swap them in to test if there are any faulty components

if bios beeps then its something with your video...if not...well...

my k6-2 system does this all the time. it doesn't like new hardware, so when I install something, I get nothing. Just wiggle your ram to make sure its properly seated. That ususally does the trick for me.
