    get the joke?

I got a Thermalright SLK-900U (it came in today... !)

anyways, I was holding it, admiring it, and suddenly I notice a flash of silverish, instead of the orangish sheen of copper. so I look again. and I notice more and more flashes of silverish.

I'm starting to suspect that the SLK-900 is actually copper-plated aluminum, or worse, anodized aluminum...

doesn't matter, the things supposed to perform well anyways, and the fins, at least, seem to be copper, but its kind of offsetting, if you know what I mean.

anyone else have a SLK900 they can look at and see if I'm just drawing the wrong conclusions?

and mine came with a slightly ridged base... it looked like the markings on metal that just got milled flat, if you've worked with a milling machine before, and it has texture to it, too. I can actually feel the ridges if I run my fingernail over it.

I'm gonna go pick up some sandpaper later this week and lap it before I put it on my CPU... eh... two hours down the tube...

do you get the joke yet? haha... Amorphus made a funny...? hah.... eh.... :waah:

Are you sure it just isnt a flash from an extra bright light int he room? If it is silvery in indirect light then its probably defective in some way, otherwise it could just be reflective.

If it's not a knock off you can sue the company for mis-advertising.

    heehee, it was solder.

I wanted to see the reactions I got. it's 100% copper, I assure you.

the fact that the whole thing isn't made out of a solid block of copper is kind of disappointing, though. :p
