"It's plain to see that ABIT have taken a look at the current cooling techniques employed on high-end video cards and decided that they could do with a helping hand. The very fact that this GeForce4 Ti 4200 is hard-coded for 275/554 clocks (for the GPU and memory respectively) tells us that ABIT feel their enhanced cooling really can make a difference."

It's obvious it works - I'm just wondering how long it'll be before after market replacement VGA coolers start immitating this.

I think they are going to patent this design making it difficult to copy

I'm not sure they could, seeing as it's
a.Heatpipe, a technology in the public domain (I think)
b.Exhaust, again a method widely in use

    :hehe:
You think people would buy this type of cooling solution for existing cards, then?

Why not? If it works as well as it's supposed to, I think a lot of people would be interested. Let's face it - it'd be easier (and cheaper) than H20 cooling.

The fact that it looks cool doesn't hurt it either.

A bolt on HSF with an extra PCI backplane for the exhaust would work. Sure, you'd lose a PCI slot, but just how many slots does anybody actually use? I only use 2, one for the Audigey and another for my NIC.

    I think it's a winner.

My m8 just purchased one of these. They are huge being 2 pci slots in height. The copper shine on the backplate and the heatpipes is fantastic. He loves the performance of the card, but is more used to gf2 performance. V nice card :D
