Portable ACER Aspire 8930g - very fade screen

As per title: ACER Aspire 8930g

With an external screen (monitor) it works just fine.
On the laptop screen the picture is barely visible - very, very fade.
To the best of my knowledge it's the inverter and/or the lamps (it's a dual lamp screen inverter).

Could it be something else?
Would the one of the two lamps work while the other is broken?

I don't think I'll be willing to change the lamps, so what probability would you estimate it is just the broken inverter?

Could be the inverter.

Or dead lamps. Swap the screen is easiest on that front.

Be likely one of the two!
