Hands down, the best $150 I've ever spent in my life.

    I think I'm in love.

agreed, I use mine all the time. Makes me want a wider one now. Been eyeing the 35 f2 now. Damned lens addiction.

50mm may be a bit too long, but it does make for a great portrait lense...

ive also been looking for something wider, 30mm sigma f1.4 being the one that has caught my eye, but the bank manager wont like it right now :(

I find 50mm on both crop and FF bodies an excellent FL, both for portraits and landscapes. I've got the 35/1.4 on my list of what to pick up next---mmmmm.

Yeah... 50mm is too long for my shooting preference on cropped sensors. I just don't have enough room in close quarters. Wish Nikon reissued the 28mm 1.4 and make it cheaper at the same time...

That's why I went for the 35mm F2D instead :naughty:. It works out to 52mm. The 35mm F2D has also got some crazy minimum focus distance :baby: But yeah, for a first prime lens, the 50mm 1,8 is a steal :)
