For many years i've had this old 11mbps netgear access point and it's been great.

However it used to be only my brother's PC using it with occasional wii/DS/PDA connections.
However both my brother's girlfriend who stays over a lot, my parents and myself have recently got new laptops...

1x PC on 11mbps wifi is okay
4x PC's on 11mbps wifi = access point cries in the corner due to excessive load  (last night my transfer speed got as low as 200kb/sec to a shared drive on the LAN)

So any recommendation's for a standalone wifi access point? (have a smoothwall linux PC as my router, so i don't need a router with wifi ;))
all the wireless devices seem to be 54mbps devices at max, so any higher is probably overkill

Small bump to say that this seems to work great :D

Took a while to work out what was happening on my PDA, as it was showing 54mbps upload and 1mbps download... compared to 11/11mbps on my old access point
turned out it was some wierdness due to powersaving, as it showed 54/54mbps up/down with an active transfer on the PDA
