Ordered something yesterday it is out for delivery today. Ordered several items last week I expect delivery next week. I do not have or want prime, just a logical delivery schedule. Everything I have ordered is from this country and do not understand Amazon's delivery structure at all.
Amazon logistics is one of my least favourite couriers. And there's a very real chance that one of the things wasn't actually in stock, or is being shipped from another fulfilment center, hence the delay. That said, I've never been able to work out their delivery schedules. I just don't buy anything I need soon off Amazon anymore.
Don't talk to me about prime, they're well sneaky trying to get you to sign up for it, i would have thought once i canceled a mistaken auto subscription to prime once that would have been it, no it seems they keep trying to sign you up and I've had to cancel it twice now. I thought the delivery timings differing was due to some items being fulfilled by Amazon, from stock kept in their warehouse, and some items being shipped from the supplier and Amazon just acting as an intermediary.
Good chance that at least one of the items you ordered last week isn't in stock where they thought it was and has had to be shipped in from one of their other fulfillment centres. I agree that it's annoying that they aren't more transparent about these things but to be honest I've generally found that the "delivery by" dates on each product listing are fairly accurate.
I think it is more that I have ticked the send it all together box. Amazon is getting worse and worse for stock levels & delivery for non prime members, probably a deliberate policy on their part.
Amazon is half marketplace, half online store. The items you ordered that are taking two weeks to arrive could be coming from a third party seller abroad via a UK distribution centre. Alternatively they could just be awaiting stock. To bring some balance to things, I've found Amazon (first party) deliveries to be faultless - if they say next day or same day, it is. Even no-rush shipping is normally 2-3 days rather than 3-5.
I generally don't buy from Amazon unless it's being fulfilled by Amazon, and even then I'd much, much rather buy something sold by Amazon than sold by a third party and fulfilled by Amazon. One thing that does annoy me is that "next-day delivery" is delivery one day after dispatch. But that doesn't mean that you get the item one day after you order it if they take a week to dispatch the bugger
But when you're looking at an item (Amazon fulfilled), you get the countdown and everything when checking out - i.e. "Want it delivered by tomorrow, 22 Feb.? Order within 6 hrs 45 mins and choose Express Delivery at checkout"
just want to balance this a bit. I have in 95% of all cases had delivery on time with deliverers placed sat afternoon arriving sunday morning ! I dont live in london next to a hub or anything, i live in the countryside. I must admit this is for all my prime deliveries, orders that i've done outside of prime are generally ok with delivery usually within the estimate. dont really have a bad word to say about it ? from the tone on here seems im in the minority?
Amazon can be very hit and miss. They almost completely screwed me over for Christmas - ordered something on the 16th, was originally given a delivery date between 21st and 23rd for free shipping, logged in on the 20th wondering why I hadn't received any email notifications for dispatch... delivery date now showing as 28th to 30th. Well that ain't no bloody good, is it?! Had to cancel the order and place a new one and choose the most expensive delivery option to get it on time.
That doesn't mean you'll definitely get it then, though - see cases where the item can't be found in the warehouse or someone else nips in and gets the last one as you're checking out. It's a rare occurrence, certainly, but it does happen. And if you complain then Amazon will tell you that technically they've done their bit in getting it to you the day after dispatch, it's just that dispatch took longer than expected Again, though, Amazon's CS is amongst the best in the business so this isn't a massive moan, it's just that Amazon aren't guaranteeing that you'll get your stuff the day after you order it.
The only time they've missed a next-day that I can recall is black friday, and they comped two months of prime as a "we're sorry", which was nice. These days I'm ticking the "no rush" box more often than not, which keeps free rentals from Amazon video flowing. Yesterday though, I ordered a game at around lunch time and it was delivered before dinner. The same day. Welcome to the future.
This morning I received an email that an item was out for delivery. At midday 4 items arrived, ordered last week, which were not due to next Tuesday, the item I was emailed and ordered yesterday about has just arrived. Still baffled?
It is hugely dependant on where the order is from, as in who fulfils the actual order. I'm fortune enough to live close to a large depot so you get things like same day delivery etc for no cost, plus one of the very few perks my company offer is a free prime membership. Also depends who is sending, for example, a marketplace trader using amazon physically has to mark the item as dispatched which is a very loose term, dispatched could mean its in a pile waiting to go to the local post office. Or could actually mean it has been collected by a courier to begin its travels. One thing I do prefer they have started is the locker system, 90% of the stuff can be delivered to them and you have three days to collect it once its been delivered. Means in my case I can go to work, come home do the shopping and get what ever parcel it is on my way out.
I recently ordered three blu rays in one order, all of them sold by amazon themselves. They all arrived the same day, each one in its own cardboard packaging rather than in a single bigger box. Sometimes they are just plain stupid.
Never had a problem with Amazon as a Prime customer. The delivery peeps are tracked in this City, and shows you where he/she is, and how many deliveries they have before yours.
It depends on who Amazon has contracted for delivery (assuming dispatched fro man Amazon warehouse not by a Marketplace seller directly): - Amazon logistics: generally good, though they will deliver up until silly-o-clock in the evening and their driver's approach to multi-occupancy buildings is "ring everybodies doorbells in sequence repeatedly until some poor sod opens the outer door and gets a package shoved in their face" regardless of who it is actually addressed to - Royal Mail: Good. - Yodel: total shithouse. Forget next-day, just pray it arrives eventually maybe. "Parcel signed for by resident" does not mean "left between two bins at the side of the road" - MyHermes: total shithouse. Forget next-day, just pray it arrives eventually maybe.
Yodel and MyHermes are dire. Amazon Logistics are hugely variable and often no better than the other two. That's what happens when your have a man with a van doing your last-mile delivery - if you get a good driver then great, but if not...
I'm sick of Amazon Prime tbh. Recently their next day delivery has vanished, and now it is 2 days. Which is fine, if they show up. Instead my mother (who is 75) has to sit looking out the window all day until 8pm watching a green bar, only for them not to show up. Two days ago we ordered a £180 shower. Not a toy, or a game, or anything frivolous. A shower, a shower that she has been without for four days. They couldn't deliver next day (yesteday) and here I am at 7pm losing all hope. Now this would not be a problem *IF* I had no trust in them for my £7.99 a month + inflated prices any way (you can always get it £3-£4 cheaper on Ebay) but this sort of thing really makes me very angry. We have a plumber booked for 9am tomorrow morning. If Amazon fail to deliver that means we either pay him for his wasted time, or, annoy him and he then won't come and fit the shower at all. They need to stop polishing Clarkson's f*****g ego and start giving you the service that you actually pay them for.
