i am making something similar to the orange bazooka, a pneumatic spud cannon If anyone knows where i can get a cheap solenoid sprinkler valve (1") then please tell.

but another source said styrofoam and petrol made it but i presume its just a different way of thickening it etc

 

Have one of those, 22mm bore , used a manual valve rather than a solenoid one, works fine.

 

Yeah you can use almost anything that disolves in petrol... expanded polystyrene works too

expanded polystyrene is just about the same as styrofoam - just styrofoam is slighlty better for modelmaking and generally blue

I've got a few spud cannons too . Got a 15mm calibre copper rifle . Load it up with some wax, straight through a fence. Next project - flamethrower

EDIT: RS sell some 15mm diameter soleniod valves. Not big enough for you tho.:rofl:

 

got any plans for that gun? How much it cost? Wtf is RS?!

and put some nail-paint with shiny stuff (that stuff to put on your nails with something in it that shines like stars) in it.

I've made once a Coca Cola Bottle Rocket. Really cool. Just fill the empty coca cola bottle with 1/3 of water, put a .... err .... - that wooden stuff that you put on wine bottles - in it, together with a needle to pump up a ball, attach it to a pump (the best thing to do is to use a electric one, not a manual one) and start pumping! Be sure that the bottom of the bottle is aimed upwards, else I am not responsible for any damage caused ... (my record is about 30 meters right into the air, muhaha)

We tried then building a rocket with 3 bottles, but that one wasn't strong enough and couldn't resist the pressure. Would have been cool if it launched though (we did some calculations and we thought it would make 60 meters at least)

Do not use glass bottles, because what must go up, must go down...

well in V nam we used to mix up some jp5 in a 20gal barrell and mix in some good old liquid soap. put a pinch of c4 on the bottom and a #4 fuse ,duc tape a claymore to the side and wire it in par with a #5 fuse and hook the whole shebang into the dman switch. Ya throw the switch the c4 would go off first kicking the barrel up in the air 15 to 20 feet and than the claymore would le loose. Put out a nice wall of flame about 50yds in front of ya that stuck to everything not to mention any bad guys trying to do great bodily harm to your well being.
