Hey guys, I had a quick look at the blockbuster movies for next year and in all honesty, it doesn't look like there's much! I've got: Thor, Pirates 4, Transformers 3, Captain America and Green Hornet....Is that all?!
Dude... Transformers 3... Giant Robots kicking ten bells of shizzle from each other? that constitues serious Smash!
So, more recycled IPs. Maybe Apollo 18, but to be honest, nothing to really get me to the cinema. Perhaps the Russians will come out with something. I'd like to see the next in the Night Watch/Day Watch series. Sadly, Trek XII isn't out until 2012. No, just no. Friends and I watched Transformers 2 as part of a movie night. It was such a bad film, I'd need an entire new forum to list everything wrong with it.
Don't make me execute you. I don't really watch TF for the storyline... I wanted it because it's a Micheal Bay film and there are explosions and robots blowing each other up. Thats really the only reason, the dialogue can be dead funny though, such as... "Shh... we're having a ten second time out" to Megan Fox... there is only one way to shut that woman up and that's with the business end of a sammich maker!
Yeh, I gotta admit, Megan Fox bent over a bike in IMAX was pretty awesome. Makes T2 a 4* film at least. Isn't BatDude 3 due out 2011 as well?
Depends on your definition of Blockbuster really. You might want to include X-Men: First Class, Rise of the Apes, MI: Gost Protocol (i.e M.I.4), Harry Potter (7 pt1), Cars 2, Tintin, Sherlock Holmes 2, Kung-Fu Panda 2, Battle: Los Angeles. Wiki has a good list here I saw a good list on Gizmodo (i think, either that or one of that group of sites) Io9 a while back, which had a list of 20 or so big sci-fi/fantasy films coming out next year.
I actually went to the cinema with my girl at the time and there was literally a row of guys leant forwards by about four inches at that point... utter silence in the cinema other than "Nom Nom Nom WANT!"
I don't think that The Dark Knight Rises (that was the latest title for it I think) will be out before 2012. Transformers, as far as I'm concerned, is only worthwhile for the Bayhem on screen and watching lots of real life military hardware in action - and of course Megan Fox - that woman was so smokin' hot in the first film she had to be kept away from combustible material. My one endearing memory of the first film is a slo mo scene from the final battle in the city where one of the TF's is diving over a woman cowering in terror who has a terrific rack on display - that was worth the price of the IMAX admission alone. Certainly the biggest pair of norks I've seen on screen to date - unless of course they start doing porn in IMAX... As for the sequel, I just cringe at so many things in that film, especially the memorable line "I'm postioned below the scrotum."
She's not in the next one... go to IMDB and check out who is though +nom nom nom+ The one who rocket jumps in slow-mo is Ironhide, just before he goes and attacks BRAWL the Decepticon Tank... 3 guess's as to where my nickname comes from
I think the only one I am looking forward to next year is "Sucker Punch" With regard to all the comic movies coming out, I have the lowest of low expectations for pretty much all of them. Thor looks abysmal judging from the trailers. If the new Transformers movie has the action in a way that you can actually make out what is happening on screen, then it could be entertaining, although I think I would settle for continuity (Spend 3/4 of first film figuring out that small arms fire doesn't do diddly and need large calibre SABOT, opening and closing scenes of TF2: Hundreds of small arms fire now either do diddly, or drop Decepticons like flies....)
Sequels of sequels of sequels. Not interested. So much Hollywood BS with no content. I do however believe that there will also be some worthwhile "smaller" movies that turn out to be great.. That's what always happens for me, I start watching something with zero expectations and then after two hours go "woah... That was... that was good." And about transformers.. The first one was generic action turd (6/10). The second was utterly shite action turd (3/10). I did however ROFL through the last half an hour or so, all the slow-mo's of Megan's rack bouncing up and down while she sprints across the damn desert. Yeah... That's what good films are made of. Seriously as much as I like boobs, gimme a break.
Transformers? Lowest common denominator junk, worthy only of the cheapest bargain bin imo. Agreed on the small films - I usually enjoy the random films you see in cinema listings and decide to see on a whim. Rottentomatoes is a pretty useful tool for UK box office stuff too.
Probably another one of those Swedish goth girl adventures, and a new Kevin Smith movie. edit: JK about the Swedish thing, didn't know they were all cranked out so fast. American remake of the original is due in 2011 though.
Jeeezuss you bunch of heretical gits! Nah, it's a great film Transformers wise, the actors... are just idiots, they almost offset the seriousness of the Transformers.
If this is the best of next year I'll slit my wrists now and have done with it. just saw Piranha 3DD is coming out if its as good as Piranha 2 then I'm in also Red Riding Hood Super 8
Let's hope they go with Dusk Watch rather than Twilight Watch... Although the latter might serve to introduce a whole new audience to world cinema... Except that the last I heard of it is that he was planning to move the setting to America and recast the whole thing Sellout... Also it won't be anytime soon afaik, Wanted 2 is happening first.
Can't stand that kind of pointless sex appeal. Like I'll pay $9 to see some actress in a few fan service scenes when I can get far more for free on the internet if I so desire. I watch movies for a strong story presented in an effective manner. As a disclaimer, some such scenes can be useful for developing the character. A quick bend over a car as per Transformers 1 could almost be justified because it serves to show that Megan Fox's character isn't just attractive, she's damn hot and way out of the main character's league under any other circumstances. This justification is ruined, however, by the multitude of other fan-services scenes.
