Been awhile since I posted a thread, apologies if this is in the wrong section. o2 have offered me free upgrade to the 8GB iPhone, with the only drawback that it will be a reconditioned unit. I am tempted but slightly worried about limited warranty or consistent issues and/or the condition of the case. The official word from o2 is that it’s pretty much the same, just no official box, and the iPhone should be perfectly fine(no marks etc). Just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience with refurbished iPhones? Any recurring problems or issue returning them if there’s a fault?
No idea on the iphone but I have never had a problem with reconditioned things. Using a 21" reconditioned sony trinitron monitor thats years old now. was dirt cheap and apart from technicalities its new. also using a refurb apple keyboard a refurb humax pvr and dad has my old nokia n70 which was a refurb. They all came in official original packaging though (not sure what they mean by "official box") and either normal or higher warranty (sony monitor was actually 3 years on site waranty) so no problems if it goes wrong. I very much doubt you have a single problem due to it being a refurb.
they use refurb phones for the warranty replacements, they do look new and had us fooled for a while until we did IMEI checks. All good as far as i'm concerned. What was the warranty offer?
Thanks, Believe its 12 Months on the reconditioned units while the standard is 18 month- the duration of the contract. Been reading around on the o2 forums, they seem ok, just very hit and miss as to when they’ve got the refurbs in stock.
