    Just having a DOTT frenzy at the moment... but before I go thru the rigmarole of making a dual-boot for XP and win 98 has anyone managed to get it running on win xp?

    Can you tell me how?

    thx

    I'm not sure about DOTT (classic game BTW :D ) running on WinXP, but I had quite a lot of success running Monkey Island 1 & 2 using something called VDMSound, which you can find here.

    VDMS has this to say about running DOTT:

    *** Day of the Tentacle (C)
    MIDI=ok
    SB=ok
    Rem=You must install the "Roland Upgrade" from Lucas Arts (ftp://ftp.lucasarts.com/patches/pc/upgrade.exe) in order to get General MIDI or MT-32 music.

    Let me know how you get on with it - coz I wouldn't mind playing DOTT again - I'm sure someone I know still has a copy

    :lol:

    How could one forget putting a hamster in a microwave?!

    Lucasart's adventures 0wned. There wasn't really a bad one amongst all I played (Monkey 1, 2, 3, Sam and Max, DOTT, Full Throttle, Grim Fandango)...

    i THINK Dott is abandonware... which means that you can download it from the net and you aren't breaching licensing laws etc... Don't take that as gospel though. But if you search hard enough you should be able to find a legit download with the copy protection screen.

    *NOTE* if it isn't abandonware then I can't advocate downloading illegal programs and suggets you purchase a copy... blah blah etc etc

    I'm in Enfield - mmm suburbia :lol:

    A quick email to a few m8's revealed that at least one of em has a copy of DOTT on cd - the full talkie version!
    So I shall be having a crack at getting it working over the weekend :hip:

    Oh and nothing by Lucasfilm/Lucasarts is considered abandonware it would seem, as I recall them threatening quite a few sites for having old Lucas stuff on em a while back.

    see DOTT was one of the greatest games ever, you rarely get anything like that, why because ppl think its offensive and incourages ppl to put hamsters in microwaves, god damn political correctness.

    yeah, DOTT was great (although, IMO not as good as Sam and Max).
    Maniac Mansion it one of my all-time favourite games, not the PC version though (shoddy EGA graphics) - they re-made it for it's release on the Nintendo NES - good graphics, annoying music!!

    As for DOTT on XP, never tried - for my old DOS games I have a ZIP disk with DOS 6.22 on it - I just boot from that to play my old games...

    "Nonsense I feel great! In fact I feel like I could.... like I could....

    <gurgle>

    "TAKE ON THE WORLD!!!!"

    " Ah HA! A secret passage! This is all too easy!" <Crack>

    "Oh no! The chronojohn! Damn these cheap imitation jewels!"

    Sam and Max was better imo.... The bizarre, sick humour appealed to me.

    "We need free passes for the carnival"
    "Yeah, and free corn dogs, so we can yuke all over ourselves!"

    "We don't go upstairs."
    "Not since the accident."

    "Mind if I drive?"
    "Not if you don't mind me clawing at the dashboard and shrieking like a cheerleader."

    "Cash. Never leave home without it."

    "I hope there was no one on that bus."
    "Nobody we know at least."

    Class.....

    DOTT, a classic... Sam 'N Max, another classic... the Sam 'N Max comics were pretty cool too.
