Apple G3 500mhz to PC mhz Conversion

    Whats a Powerbook G3 500mhz equivalent too in a PC class CPU mhz speed?

    Like 800mhz??

    Help.

    Well it depends wether this pc is AMD, Intel or Via....

    tbh, a 1ghz emac feels like a 1ghz PC (intel) to me..

    One link http://www.ambergate.com/processor.html claims the 500MHz was 2.94x as fast a 600MHz Pentium 3 using Intel's own tests to demonstrate the power of the P3. I didn't find any numbers for how many Gflops a G4 puts out, but even if the CPU alone is not faster, Macs have some slick hard-ware so I'd certaintly think a G4 is faster than a typical equal speed PC(because Mac's don't exactly use typical hardware).

    If I could afford a Mac, I think I want one. :) Well, I think I just want to get like a G3 or something to goof off with before I dedicate a big chunk of change to Apple.
