Having problems getting sound on my Asus P5Q-E. This is a new build - my second - so please bear that mind. It's entirely possible I've missed something stupid or bloody obvious.

I'm getting no sound through the front panel or at the back ports. I'm only using a mini-jack to some old Altec Lansings, nothing fancy there.

The sound levels in control panel on Vista is registering sound on the Digital Output Device (HDMI). Other options in there are Digital Output Device (SPDIF), Headphones, Speakers, ATI HDMI Output.

I've switched between high definition sound and AC'97 on the motherboard and also in BIOS. If I switch to AC'97, Windows says there is no audio device plugged in.

Everything else is working fine (fans are loud though, but probably down to cheap fans). Lack of sound is driving me (silently) nuts...

UPDATE: Drivers had apparently failed multiple times to install. A download from the UK site sorted it. Woo!
