    System Specs First...
AMD XP 1800+ running at 2000+ (watercooled using a neptune block OCPC)
    512Mb PC2700 Memory
Soyo Dragon+ with Crystal Orb on northbridge
Leadtek A250 GF4 ti 4600 (watercooled using an aquacomputer block)
IBM Deskstar 30Gb, 60Gb and Maxtor 120Gb HDDs
    DVD & CDW stealthed
    Aquacomputer Reservoir
    Blackice Prime Radiator
    2* 80mm and 2* 120mm panaflo low volume fans
    Lian Li PC76 case
Noritake VFD 64 line (like the review) and a home made baybus
and a painted intellimouse explorer ;)

OK we'll start off with the classic view (excuse the messy carpet ;))
You can see the Baybus, reservoir and VFD. I'm not sure why I chose this window design really... just kinda came to me.. it shows what I want it to without exposing any nasty wires
    [IMG]

Now the backside... with hindsight I could have done the window tinting better (it isn't easy especially with another adhesive film inside too :| and the square could also have been a bit better
    [IMG]

Lets see the baybus and VFD in action - Long exposure... sorry for blurred images
    [IMG]

Lets have a look at the watercooling
    [IMG]

Yes I could have shortened the hoses, but they aren't too messy and it is a toss up between a small aesthetic improvement and having to re-leaktest
Looks nice with the lights on :)
Even better with the case on
    [IMG]

So what the hell was on the back side window... OH that's why it's called RINGPIECE...

Hang on... is that red I see.... well no... it's red orange and yellow LEDS that come on when I get HDD activity, looks very cool in the dark :):)

And there you have it. Lots of mess, lots of clearing up, lots of money spent at Maplin RS & god knows where else..

With hindsight I'm happy with what I have done and I know I could have done bits better but all in all I'm very happy with it... not sure if my next case will be modded tho... many weekends of nagging behind me ;)

Actually they're blue... they just came out UV looking... odd really.

The coolant is UV active and the reservoir LED is UV... the Waterblock LED is Blue

    Thx mate.

neeeeed a litle article/explanation of how you pulled off the ring. im guessing multiple layers of plexi, one has the writing on it and the yellow and orange LEDs.. and another has the ring, and the top one has the tint?

ROFL tribal... just looked at your webbie... your sofa is worse than my carpet :p

TBH the ring wasn't that difficult... just look at Macroblack & GOO's articles on how to do sticky acetate transfers and window tint... I just etched the writing itself as most people have etched... dremmel & patience...

Click siggy link for early stages so you can see the first piccies

    :cooldude: Very sweet.

Wasn't sure when I saw the first window but (phrases carefully, to avoid saying "I enjoyed looking at the back side/ring piece" ;) :D)
Very well implemented use of technique with the ring - best use I've seen it put to. :)

I was trying to come up with a design that would utilise the multiLED etch trick combined with IDE activity trigger - but you've done better with this than I was thinking of.

    Damn good job.
Have you got a shot of just the ring window?

Yeah, could we get a shot of the ring alone...a close up of it down at its level?

TBH the ring shows up nicely in that piccy but the window tint has a few bubbles (not good) and without the light on you can barely see the picture (by design)

    They are from RS... http://rswww.com

they aren't cheap but they are a lot better than the maplin ones.
Maplin only have the Push to make ones these are DPDT ones

They are called VANDAL RESISTANT DPDT SWITCHES

    Kazza

p.s. in case you didn't know (like I didn't a while back) a PTM (push to make) switch is like a doorbell, only works whilst you hold it in... a DPDT switch is like the on off button on a traditional tv where you have to push it in and it sticks in. and then you push it again and it pops out. the PTM switches need some circuitry to make them work correctly, the DPDT can just be done with simple wiring :)

Excellent ring window! Love the color change with hard drive activity idea. Must have been difficult to do the etching but well worth it judging from the pics.

That is beautiful lokoing, I love the ring window, big fan of Lord of the Rings here, so always cool to see mods of it!

I love the UV glow for your water cooling, looks supar nice with the tinted window and such.

Wonderful job again, keep it up. I expect to see more Lord of the Rings mods from you:lol:
