I haven't ever had any problems with the Omega drivers. Of course I don't have anything as fancy as a 9800. :D Did you uninstall the drivers you had loaded prior to trying to install the omegas?

and to top it all of my speakers refuse to work properly in 5.1 mode, even tho its set up IDENTICALLY to how it was before

    From the omega readme:
Not sure if that has anything to do with your refresh rate. I don't have XP, so I don't know too much about how to help with that. I did see on the omega site that he has a newer driver (9/20/2003) that supposedly fixes some 9800SE something.

    YOU FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!

My god I love you... :D

Since I reinstalled Windows, I couldn't get 1152x864 to work at 75Hz, which I know my monitor supports, even though it was fine before...disabling this worked...I know I should read readmes and stuff, but it's so much more fun when someone tells you the answer :p

    Thanks

And it's so much more fun for me to be able to tell you the answer (and boost my ego a bit in the process :D ). Hamish, have you been able to make any more headway on your problem?

Edit: oh yeah....I love you too. :worried:

i did eventually get it to boot but there were artifacts in windows, Dx7/8 was really poor performance and loads of corruption
    Dx9 resulted in this
taken it out and put my 4200 back in :(
    RMA time me thinks

    Hamish,

What MoBo/Chipset are you running... I have just finally gotten to the bottom of some of my Radeon problems, which has involved all sorts of Voltage tweaks, different drivers, different DX versions etc.

If you want, you can email me: lee at sensateinteractive.com

And I'll put you onto some of the pages I've been through to resolve this issue.
