instead of countless threads about things that don't work in this game, what about we make one single thread to talk about things that do work I doubt we'd get any replies however
At least it would appear that dice and ea are actually trying to fix the issues rather than the terrible service we saw from IWnet. While BC2 seems unstable at the moment it does seem to be getting better and just being able to hook up with some friends and play a game on the same server with no lag no hackers is blissful. So yeah long story short I'd probably be a lonely soul in that forum post lol
-Game launches -Server list shows literally hundreds of servers -I can often connect to those servers -My weapons are functional -My rank and stats are functional -Friends list works -Singeplayer works -Gameplay is so fun that I still manage to sink 3 hours into it daily despite the issues -Has never crashed on me -Never had unnaturally low frame rate -Uhhhh, did I mention it's fun? -It does not give me allergies -It doesn't kill me in my sleep -It doesn't steal the love of my life and make passionate love to her in my bed This list could go on and on.
pimonserry Got this earlier today, put 5 hours in, great stuff, now it won't connect to EA Online or find any servers >.>
ZiiP has stayed in my favourites constantly, even after loosing my friends list. You can add them manually to your favourites as well, have a gander here: Useful stuff thread on ZiiP Hamfunk, I got you a few times yesterday. Glad to hear you're enjoying the server. Kingred, join us if you want fella, get on TS for voice comms (TS3) as we don't use in-game stuff. Bear in mind we don't play for anything but the laugh of it all. TS3 details
Aye,I lost my friends list aswell along with everybody else when they reset the servers but just manually added them again,i've not had any problems with history or favourites though they've stayed there no matter what.
Managed to connect to a server today. Happy days. ...but then the wife said dinner was ready and I had to exit. Haven't been able to get back in since. Doh!
Are the sniper rifles as rewarding on the pc version as they are on the console versions? Nothing like getting a head shot from halfway across a map and getting 250+ points for a single kill.
Quite simply yes. Just the fact is there are so many on some servers - pop your head up in the wrong place. And then dead.
green - true red - not always true, wrong too often orange - meh, it's all a matter of taste but it's certainly not bad by any means, otherwise that's what I would be pissed about pink - hey we don't know about that yet
Jimini I had all kinds of probs over the weekend but I can live with it if it's not forever. Server list only updating itself when it's downloaded all the info is annoying though. One other thing is the ability not to toggle aim-down-sight off, so you have to hold down the button and when you let go you go back to hip.. I hate having to press it on and then press it off, it's slow and annoying. (How is the FoV changed btw?)
from fragcast.org How to adjust your FOV -Field of View *New in Retail -In your Settings.ini we showed you before in My Documents/BFBC2 the default is FOV=55 you can adjust that up to 120 (per repi) The FOV in the settings.ini file is the vertical FOV, people usually talk about horizontal FOV, so you have to convert your desired HFOV to VFOV using this calculator: FOV calculator. Enter your screen resolution in pixels (e.g. 1920×1200), then the desired HFOV, click calculate, and it will show you the VFOV setting you need to put in settings.ini. -Thanks to Renegade from UK forums for this info - Here is what the changes will look like. http://www.fragcast.org/?p=433
kool just tryed it on my 22" 1680x1050 and its alot better vfov 90 and it recommended 65 from the 55 defualt im impressed i dont feal like im zoomed in all the time now.
I'm on as cjmUK - quelle surprise! I generally play 10pm-12pm if anyone wants some squad-play. Played about 3 hrs of the SP and about 5hrs MP. Verdict: Not bad, but not BF3.. or even BF2. It's smaller scale than BFx games, courtesy of the console influence, and the pace (MP) is [annoyingly] frantic. It's more in line with the CoD series than the older BF series games. There are squads, but there is little squad play - the game doesn't lend itself to more thoughtful tactical approaches. You will rarely get a front-line forming They have also mangled the roles quite a bit. There are now only 4 roles and there are idiosyncrasies like the Medic packing a LMG (and with no prone, having to fire from the hip) yet being completely unable to heal or revive anybody (those skill need to be earned). The engineer is the role with access to silenced weapons, and the sniper carries C4.... The balance isn't too bad - vehicles are not grossly overpowered; they are useful but vulnerable. Game modes are OK, but nothing to write home about. Maps are OK - the destructible environment is a pleasingly destructible. The SP is on rails, just like CoD; it is enjoyable enough, but I regard it as nothing more than a tutorial for the MP game. I've played what I have of the SP game so that I can get a feel for the weapons, the physics etc... and it has been useful in that respect. I have a few grumbles about the UI... Why doesn't it remember your previous weapon load-out? Server browser should also remember your preferred settings but doesn't - and it's a little cumbersome too. Apparently quite a number of people are having connectivity issues. But on the other hand, at least it has dedicated servers supporting 32 players! This cannot be underestimated. In short, it's a decent game - enjoyable to play, but less satisfying than older BF titles - it will help to keep us occupied until BF3 comes out (next year?)
+1. Pretty much sums up what I've been thinking. It's definitely not BF3 but it has enough Battlefield in to make me keep coming back for more.
The more I play it the better it is. You need at least 10hrs and plenty of unlocks for it to start getting interesting! Hope there's no issues with punkbuster etc changing the config.ini!
