News Battlefield 3 pre-order pack announced

Me too, I'll also be annoyed if you can only use those guns if you pre-ordered their version. Hopefully everything will be unlock-able once you level up enough.

Day One expansion pack? Isn't that what we used to call 'the game on release day'? So now it's £40 for the game, £5 for a day-one expansion pack? Welcome to the RyanAir of game sales... EA you morons.

 

Every PC version will have this day one expansion pack, it's just the console versions that need some sort of deterrent for second hand sales.

 

The 'day one DLC' is just EA's project 10 dollar - every copy of the game will have it, but it'll only be registrable to one player account, a la Mass Effect 2's day 1 DLC. If you want to add a second account to play, you'll need to pay up for the DLC again. Sure to annoy dads who share their PCs with their sons everywhere.

 

If they share the PCs then it'd be a simple case of creating a new Soldier under the same account for each person.

Obviously it doesn't work if they want to play together however.

This is going to be the big one. Having been bored to death by MMO's im going back to the fps. Also looking forward to Planetside Next, 1st one was amazing.

I've heard this before many times "Limited offer only to pre-orders" blah blah.. then later they open it up for everyone anyways. There is no upside to pre-ordering anything unless you do it on steam and can also pre-load the game.

I will buy this game when I feel like it, not being pressured into anything with false incentives.

Back to Karkand will NOT be available on day of release, it will be released after this date. It's just like a pre-order.

 

BF3 in general keeps on setting itself up to disappoint me, it's really unsettling. As a Battlefield fan I must play it, and it will be fun, but with so much potential it's hard not to be afraid of how much they'll mess up.

I think he meant the in-game voice chat that's restricted to squad mates and, iirc, squad leaders to commanders.
