My dad currently has a 21in CRT.
It's very big, bulky and heavy.
We think it's at the end of it's working life, as we can see ghosting.
He's just said that this morning he got a message on it showing that it is not syncing very well (monitor message not pc message)

He wants to know what is the best budget 22in TFT/LCD to get.
He's retired, and is running on savings/investments and his pension.
He will consider spending a bit more, if there is such a better advantage to spending slightly more.

Samsung 215TW hands down the best in that size range. Many of the guys here in the TR/ BiT office went out brought some for their own personal use.

I'll let him know, but I think it may be a bit pricy for his budget.

I forgot to mention that my dad has no Digital output on the graphics card in his pc (it was the old media PC, which I converted for him to use when I upgraded the media computer to do Hi-Def with HDMI)

    any comments on this?

ah, it's no longer on special offer. i bought mine £10 cheaper
LG L226WTQ is the best LCD for under 200.

i bought one and i'm loving it. comparing with a 19inch CRT, which still has plenty of life in it

comparing with a 21 CRT, it may only seems a bit wider.
