I was looking for a new LCD and decided to get something half-decent. I had my eyes on the Olevia 747i, which you can get at Comp USA for $1300 shipped. Is there any other televisions that compare? It would basically be used as a monitor, no television aside from maybe HDTV stations.
A Dell 3007WFP-HC is the best monitor you can get for $1300 (it's currently $1400, but goes on sale often). The idea of using a TV as a monitor is tempting, but because the screen is so large, even at 1920x1080, the pixels are enormous. This means at anything closer than across-the-room viewing distances, everything will be blurry, and once you get to those distances the TV is no better than a good 24" monitor at the same resolution for half the price. If you're using it as a monitor, get a proper monitor. You'll be glad you did.
If a 30" Dell cost 836 € here, I'd already have one. That's a total freaking nobrainer for the price. Get it. I can't seem to find a FIN price for that Dell, but cheapest 30" screens cost at around 1500 € here. And at current $'s rate that's about two million dollars... ($2330 to be exact)
Jipa thats becouse dell doesnt offer the 30" in finland. The next best is the HP 30" which is 1365€ from verkkokauppa.
If you shop around on eBay regularly, you can pick up a Dell 3007WFP-HC for around £550,--. Ain't surpus stock wonderful. I can vouch for the quality of these units: I have one myself.
