if you ever watch an episode of rianbow now you will relaise that the scriptwriters were perverts & there are so many rude inuendos in there it is unbelivevable
/me hides wakka snaxs cook book heh yea stupid show only watched it for the cartoons anyway... where there any cartoons? what about jase and the wheeled wariors (i think thats what it was called and umm ulisys. hmm not shure if they where british tho umm ahnkocks half hour, goons, stars in there eyes... i think im going down hill on a better note what about tommy cooper and the two ronnys and umm not the nine aclock news and umm smith and jones and err am i contributing here? mr bean is a no no also george out of rainbow... he was pink right and he was a hippo... and bungle the bear... well now that i come to mention it they where all a bit camp perhaps and they all slept in the same bed? i prefered sooty by far
Jase and the Wheeled Warriors - American Import The Rainbow crew all sleeping in the same bed = camp? No camper than Morcombe and Wise. Eric and Ern used to share a bed you know.... And this in the 70's, a less than enlightened time - and nobody raised an at it!
<- Batfink I have to second GOO's suggestion of the 60's avengers. Boy howdy Mrs Peel was hot Has nobody brought up Magic Roundabout?! Though, I think that was a French import too.
Hey if we're going back to childhood: Supergran! If only for the Billy Connoly theme music The Scots did seem to be missing out here, this is Best of British after all. Now if we can just find somebody who loved "[Take the] High Road" (My cousin was in it briefly) or that Welsh language soap which I won't even attempt to spell...
the funny thing about that is the script is real - channel four played it in the top 100 kids tv programmes
I only know British Tv from the Public Broadcasting Station I watched as a kid (and still watch sometimes). The one thing that still remains burned into my brain are the shows: "Are you being served" and "Keeping up Appearances" Don't know if either is "Best" of British though. both were slightly more annoying than they were funny. I'll definately second "the young ones" as best of british TV. Danger Mouse Rocks! Is secret squirel(sp?) British?
ok off the young ones was alexy sales (prolly spelet wrang) ben... there where two bens no three mr ben, ben elton and the fastest milkman in the west. the two bens has a section in the viz comic hmm i just cant remeber the other ben the one who ended all his shows being chased by loads of girls in neglage type stuff you know umm ben... ben umm thingy edit thats the one benny hill cheers old one
Brass Eye is fantastic. I couldn't believe all the fuss about that paedophilia episode. The only thing it mocked was the attitude of the British press and wider public, and that's why it was met with such outrage. There's lots of good satire around, like Have I Got News for You and Rory Bremner. Friday Night Armistice was good but it's not been on for aages. Rainbow rocked. Zippy is coming to DJ at the student union soon! I can't wait.
