    Hi lads (and ladies?).
I've been trawling the net for a replacement for my ageing laptop. I've found the following and would greatly appreciate some knowledge from those in know about what the latest hardware this month is and maybe some more suggestions of recently released notebooks.

I'm searching for the sweet spot (best performance for price) around a 15 inch or above display and a sturdy build quality. Will be using the laptop for watching videos and playing games.

    PC Specialist Enigma: (pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/enigmaII)
Great specs, but not so sure about build quality or service from these guys (any experience?). Looks like it could be a pain to use.
    Intel i5 520M (2.4Ghz 3MB, 32nm Dual)
    Intel PM55
    15.6" 1920x1080 LED
    2GB 1333Mhz DDR3
    320GB 7200RPM
    Intel ABG
    ATi Radeon HD 5650 (1GB DDR3? 40nm notebookcheck.net 5650)
    DVD+/-RW
    Bluetooth
    6-cell
    ~£689.00 (without os etc.)

    Sony F11M1E/H (ebuyer.com/product/190237)
Rather nice, but never used a Sony either.
    Intel i5 520M (2.4Ghz 3MB, 32nm Dual)
    Intel PM55
    16.4" 1920x1080
    4GB 1066Mhz DDR3
500GB 5400RPM (would replace with WD black 7200rpm)
    Intel ABGN
    Nvidia Geforce GT 330M (1GB DDR3? 40nm notebookcheck.net 330M)
    Blu-Ray
    Bluetooth
    6-cell
    £871.46

    Dell Studio XPS 1647 (dell.co.uk)
Fancy, but expensive and I hear it has overheating problems, which puts me off to no end.
    Intel i5 540M (2.53Ghz 3MB, 32nm Dual)
    Intel HM57
    15.6" 1920x1080 RGBLED
    4GB 1066Mhz DDR3
    500GB 7200RPM
    Intel ABGN
    ATi Radeon HD 4670 (1GB 55nm notebookcheck.net 4670)
    DVD+/-RW
    Yes
    9-cell
    £968.99

Any advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated as this feels like a lot of money.
Anybody bought a laptop recently around at 15 inch? Or know of one that has some beef for the price?
    Yours, Mr B.

    Asus G73JH-A2; Done.

It's a 17" and weighs 8ish pounds, but you won't find a more powerful gaming laptop for that price. It's got a REALLY sexy design, is super sturdy, runs very cool for what parts it has packed in it, and is a really all-around great laptop.

    Intel i7-720QM CPU
Radeon 5870 GPU with 1GB memory
    8GB of DDR3 RAM
    2x 500GB 7200 RPM HDs
    A very nice 1920x1200 17" display
Lots of other good bells and whistles...

If you're going to get a gaming laptop I'd seriously consider picking one of these up.
