Windows BF3 Bizarre Glitches

My brother's been experiencing some very strange glitches ever since he's gotten BF3 (few months ago) and I thought I'd ask you folks for help, since he said he hasn't found a thing about it on the interwebs.

First of all: the green squares (sometimes green-blue even):

Trees just spawn and disappear at seemingly random places.

I've never played the game myself, but I'll go out on a limb here and presume this isn't normal.

Played on a HD7770, latest drivers (apparently changing drivers doesn't affect it at all). Any solutions?

 

Sounds more like an issue with the game than drivers or hardware to me.
Have you tried a reinstall?

 

Indeed, there were quite some problems installing this iirc. Probably reinstalled about 3 times, but since the first 2 times the game wouldn't even start at all, I can't really compare.

An integrity check in origin turns up nothing.

If no other solutions are found I'll reinstall, but since I'm already pretty close to the download limit I'd rather avoid that if possible.

 

Bah, that's nothing.

Those trees are out of bounds trees, you can walk through them. It's quite interesting that they are being rendered in the wrong place, they should be at least 500m away. I vaguely recall this from last year and something about asus gfx cards, or old drivers (I recommend 306.97 for nVidia). There was a link or two burried in the BF3 thread to a comprensive list of things to do for the game when it was released, half of it doesn't apply anymore (upnp for instance). Happy hunting.

 

It can get quite annoying when people hide in or behind them though…
Sometimes they even pop in existence right in front of your nose when you're sniping. I've seen my brother get pretty angry about this.

That's just mental.

 

Perhaps try a repair install from the origin menu.

 

seems hardware or driver related to me. Temps on the gpu?

 

I had one the other day, screen just went mental apart from small patches of normality at the bottom. It happened just after the update which may be a coincidence. Temps were mid 50s and hasn't happened since.

Would be nice if these things get sorted out before bf4. That and legs sticking out of buildings and tripping over pebble suicides
