Asus have also decided to pick up my Crosshair III which is missing a soundcard, and either replace it with another board or something else entirely. I thought they'd just send out a soundcard but I guess not. Haven't confirmed a date yet. I'm alright with it tbh. When I got the board I had to bend some of the fan headers as they'd been squashed flat! The box was also torn to shreds but I kinda just thought, it's free :D

My Sabertooth is due to be picked up today. Going to be a (up to) 3 week wait for a replacement B3 model. No folding for me or file server until it arrives. Me sad :(

Courier arrived at work at 9:30 this morning asking for my board. I had no idea it was booked for today! He's coming back Monday...

My courrier arrived too, James (Lizard) ,then Miodrag and Emma @ Asustek has been very helpful sort all this out. They didn;t have any Sabertooths in stock, so I'm going to have to wait while they order in a B3 part for me, which I'm delighted that they are doing. Was offered a swap for something else by Miodrag initially, but I've got (Asus? No.... sorry!) graphics cards (terribly watseful I know) sitting around gathering dust, waiting to be put in builds.

Besides, I've bought the 2600K and Ram to go in that board, so I'm gonna get it up and running to replace my 980X rig, and save me a few bob on my leccy bill when folding.

Got in touch with Emma today and turns out they've sent my board to the Czech Republic?! They're having it replaced/repaired?! Seems alot of fuss for a missing soundcard. Thought they might have just shipped me a low end Xonar if they couldn't get a SupremeFX. Not complaining either way, and it'll be back in 3 weeks. My board will have a lot of
Airmiles by the next time I see it!

I got a note through from Emma on Friday saying that the board was on it's way with a tracking number attached, so I'm crossing fingers, toes and everything..... Can't wait to get it all up and running now. My main gaming rig work fine, but it's not 24/7/365 stable at 4.7Ghz and occasionally crashed with 3 clients running abfter between 4 and 8 days folding - it's fast enough an stable enough for gaming and general work, just not folding continuously, hence going for this board and another 2600K.

I keep looking at the SSD's and nearly buying the new corsair ones..... Wonder how long before Asus launch one.... Seems like an obvious missing component from their portfolio....

Just got my Crosshair III back today, only opened it tonight. Pretty sure it's the same board, which is fine, but there's still no soundcard with it! Going to email Emma on Monday and try and figure out what's going on :)

Latest word from Asus is that they "did not pretend that the prizes were brand new or of current generation" and they've now decided not to replace the Maximus III GENE socket 1156 motherboard despite my having already returned it at their request. So much for the "fantastic" prizes that competition winners were promised. Why they think attendees at an overclocking summit would believe a last generation CPU motherboard which has been previously used is "fantastic" defeats me. I've asked them to donate it to charity rather than ship it back to me as it's not worth spending any money on with Socket 1155 boards being relatively cheap and you can guess where I won't be going for my next mobo. I am NOT happy. :(
