Didn't we already have the discussion that we wanted to opt out of any mailing when submitting personal details?

Uh, no thanks. Filled in the survey, but didn't include any personal details. I hope you guys'll read it anyway.

Does this mean that if we (reluctantly) filled it in +details last time, we can fill it in again now without registering with Dennis and not have our second entries penalised? Otherwise it's a little unfair that people doing it now have the chance to not fill in their info, isn't it...? (Not saying I blame you for this at all Alex, I know you said you fought for a opt-out option so it's your behind the scenes people that I'm having a go at here).

Filled in survey, Personal data left blank, probably wouldn't win anyway and wouldn't have anything to do with parts if I did.
    Jedi part still dum.
No opt out of marketing if you want to win prize still the Suck. shame I can't go back and fill in the how would you improve bit-tech box with that suggestion really.

So, is this the same reader survey you ran a couple of weeks back?
If we completed that survey, do you still want us to fill in this survey?

It's the same one, I'm just trying to drum up more interest - the more respondents we get, the better the data is!

For those interested in the difference of being able to Opt-In vs Opting Out you can read more details here:
    http://www.out-law.com/page-5657

It seems Dennis Publishing still needs to get there act together and are technically acting against the Privacy and Electronic Communications ( EC Directive) Regulations 2003:

I'm not sure if I have entered this - if I do it again, will I be removed from the draw pool for multiple entries?

I still find it absolutely appalling that they dont offer an opt out option...

Would like to know the legality of this shameless way of bribing people for their data...

In my opinion its one of the few things that really let this website down :(

Filled it in, even though as an expat i'm not eligible...

Would have liked a question "What PC's do you have, and what is thier importance ? (1-10)"

Some of the questions were close, but just to see who has how many PC's, and which is the one they spend the most time on, and which costs the most...
I have a Main PC for everything not gaming/Video coding, and a PC for Gaming/Video coding.

Just a little thing, but although you don't need to fill in personal details to submit the survey (which is what I have done), it does appear that if you wanter enter the prize draw you have to fill in details and hence then opt in for marketing. you still cant enter draw and not opt in, so its not entirely optional.

Well, no, it is entirely optional - as in you don't have to do it. Yes, we do ask for some details when you enter the comp, but then that is down to you.

Sorry, missed this 1st time round. Not sure what you mean, Nick - we only want you to fill in the survey once, filling it in more than once will decrease the usefulness of the answers we get and it won't help you win.

Is it unfair people initially had to fill in their details? Well... I made my case internally about how I thought the opt in policy would affect the number of responses we got, the data people made theirs, and we waited a week to see.

    (Turns out I was right)

If you don't want Dennis to have your data, just email privacy@dennis.co.uk with your name and ask to be removed from all the lists ASAP.

Think people are getting over the top for the whole 'its my data i dont want you to have it' What for the sakes of a couple junk emails, which turns out to go straight to your junk mail folder anyway?
Think people are a little over the top and sensitive over the issue tbh.
