My smart monitor has stopped working as in no showing my available credit for the electricity, I phoned up and was told to keep it unpluged for 72 hours, this didn't work so phoned up and was told to keep it plugged in for 5 days as they would monitor it and try fix it, today I phoned up as this didn't fix the problem, only to be told that I have to buy another one as its been more than 12 months since it was installed, I'm disabled and on benefits and rely on it to budget my money, I'm so disappointed.

I linked my smart meter (eOn:Next) to the Bright app on android so that I can feed stats into HomeAssistant. Could you do something like that?

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.hildebrand.brightionic

Edit: I may have had to get a serial number from the smart meter, so if its not working this may not be possible. It was years ago, so I don't really remember how I did it.

There's multiple apps support looking at smart meter data by getting data from the "cloud". There's Loop energy app, Bright app as mentioned. All work same way by getting some serial number from somewhere to get the data.

Octopus shows consumption on their app if you are their customer, they've also got the Octopus Mini CAD. They send it out for free (I have one) shows consumption real time in their app. PM me if you want to switch, my referral code gets us both £50 credit.

Anyone know if In Home Display need some configuration or would they eventually work out themselves when use one from different house?

I have a spare Bulb IHD, I have purchased the Hildebrand IHD for local integration with Home Assistant (https://shop.glowmarkt.com/products/display-and-cad-combined-for-smart-meter-customers very nice kit, good upgrade replacement to ones normally supplied). So my Bulb one is going spare, somewhere........ if it will work and I can find it, you can have it for postage.

I believe that they're linked to a specific smart meter, 'cos if they weren't and you positioned yours closer to your neighbour's meter than yours it'd end up reading their usage instead...

    Valid point.

I see to buy the Hildebrand IHD, one must first have Bright verified account. Probably links using the same serial number they need to sign up for the app.
Octopus home mini CAD was sent to me from Octopus and must scan QR code with their app. Somewhere along there it must have got the smart meter info.

I wonder why do people sell smart meter IHD on ebay......

Yup this works really well, it just doesn't give you that instantaneous power draw numbers a IHD will, but it does update frequent, 30 mins or so, for it to work you need to get the codes, they will be on the devices (gas and electric meters) themselves on a label if it is just your in home display that has given up.
