Networks Budget 100Mbps Ethernet Cards

    Yup I've been told as much.

    I've swapped my 8139 for a netgear FA311 now.
    Not noticed the difference yet, but I'm pretty sure its all good :)

    i 3 realtek rtl8139 (a/b/c/8130) pci etherner nic and i cant say nuttin bad bout em ive had em for bout 3 months on win98 with ics ( internet sharing ) i use ipx/spx and tc/ip for my protocols and i have nothing rong with them except when i added the third comp and had to instal a hub thats was bout it they run fine so what eva u herad bout the cards i cant say its true :)

    I must admit, I have realtek cards running full duplex 200Mbps through my switch at home and dont really have a problem. The onboard chip for address processing is not really that much of an issue with CPU speeds as fast as they are. maybe with machines with mutiple NICs sharing loads at higher speeds they might make a diference...

    I never actually had a problem with my 8139's - I jsut bought an FA311 cause someone told me they were 'better' :rolleyes:
