    Hi All,

One of my workmates has given me a £750 (+/- £20) budget to build a gaming machine for him. He'll only be gaming on a single screen - 23" 1920x1080 IIRC..

This is what I've selected after a couple of hours of digging around the forums:

    Core i5-2500K
    Asus P8P67-M Rev B3
8GB DDR3 1600 (2x4GB) - Brand undecided but need low profile for Be Quiet Dark Rock.
MSI GTX 560Ti Twin Frozr II OC
    Corsair GS600 600W PSU
    1TB Samsung SpinPoint F3
    Samsung SH-S223C DVDRW
    Be Quiet Dark Rock Advanced
    Antec 300 Case

Total cost inc delivery £754.19 from Aria (my preferred etailer)

    Would you recommend any changes?

    All thoughts/advice appreciated.

    Sentinel.

All looks good to me - although that drive is a noisy one - just built a machine for a friend with that drive and you know when its working....at least you don't need a HDD activity led!

Hmm ok, wasn't aware that they were really noisy. Thanks for the heads up.

Any recs on a quieter large capacity drive then?

I don't want an 'eco' or 'green' drive as they tend to be a little slower, and as his budget can't really stretch to include SSD, then it'll have to be a decent HDD to keep a fair level of performance for the money.

I'll need to keep the HDD under the £40 mark to keep his budget on track.

That's pretty spectacular Sponge12349! If the OP wanted the GTX 570 could be dropped for the MSI GTX 560Ti Twin Frozr II which is regularly offered for under £180 on SCAN then drop the remaining budget on a Crucial 64GB RealSSD M4 SSD as a boot drive which is currently for sale at £89.87.

Totally agree - having an ssd makes such a big difference to overall responsiveness - the 560 is going to play all games at the moment at that resolution.

Where do the bundles live on the Scan website? I'm really having a Mr Magoo moment here....

One thing to check is that the CPU cooler you listed will clear the RAM when installed - those Vengeance kits have pretty tall heatspreaders.

Hmm, good point. I forgot about that. I could change the kit for an alternative with traditional heat spreaders.

Sentinel-R1 just look under the 'Today Only' tab on the SCAN front page for that deal, also note you need to 'add to basket' from that page for the deal to be the right price in your basket. I believe that particular deal should be up through bank holiday Monday but I doubt the same will be available during the week! Also since you have 20+ posts you can get free weekday delivery from SCAN just read the Bit-Tech Forum front page before logging in!
