Over at Modasylum, "Marsupial" shows us how to build a button interface from scratch that you can plug into your serial port to do just about anything you can imagine, from run macros, keystrokes, winamp etc:

"Sometimes the standard inputs are not ennough for advanced users needs. Can it be for macros in games, media control over an HTPC or a MP3 machine or application launcher buttons, a button input device can often come in handy."

Anyone got any code for using this with VB or do i have to figure that out myself?

    Good good.

Would this thing work with a USB to serial adapter ?

I'm thinking breakout box with LCD to monitor CPU speed / seti progress or whatever, maybe knob to control fan speed, cos Im sure in cold weather I can reduce the speed of the 120mm fan on the rad and still maintain temps ...

    Buttons to control winamp ...

Maybe some to launch a few programs, say winamp, IE, outlook, WMP, VNC-viewer

In a nice black alu box with red lighting to match with my case.
